FAQ
Common questions
What is eduScout?
eduScout is a tool built to make finding and comparing schools, preschools, childcare, and other education options easier for families. We're bringing information that normally lives across dozens of websites, Facebook groups, state databases, and parent conversations into one place.
What kinds of schools are included?
We're trying to include the whole picture, not just traditional public and private schools. That includes public schools, charter schools, private schools, preschools, Pre-K programs, daycares, Montessori programs, microschools, homeschool resources, co-ops, and other education options families may want to know about.
Does a school have to pay to be listed?
No. Schools cannot pay to be included on eduScout, and they cannot pay to appear higher in search results or receive better placement.
Are any listings sponsored?
No. There are no paid school placements.
Where does the information come from?
We gather information from publicly available sources, school and program websites, government and district resources, and information shared directly with us. Because information changes, families should always confirm important details directly with the school or program.
I found information that's wrong or outdated. What should I do?
Please tell us! Schools change tuition, schedules, admissions information, programs, and more. If you spot something that needs updating, we want to know.
What are Notes?
Notes are a way for people with firsthand experience to share information that may help another family. That could be a current or former parent, student, employee, or someone who recently toured or applied.
Are Notes anonymous?
Notes are posted without your name.
Does eduScout verify every Note?
Notes reflect individual experiences and opinions. They shouldn't be treated as an official statement from a school or from eduScout. Every Note is reviewed before anyone else can read it, but a Note appearing on eduScout doesn't mean we independently verified every statement in it.
Can schools correct information on eduScout?
Absolutely. If a school finds incorrect factual information in its listing, we want to know. Our goal is accurate information regardless of who brings the correction to us.
Does eduScout recommend or rank schools?
No. There isn't one "best" school for every child. We want to give families useful information so they can decide what fits their child and family.
Why isn't my school or program listed?
It may simply mean we haven't found it yet. We're building eduScout in phases, so if you know of something we're missing, please send it to us.
What about homeschool programs and co-ops?
We're working on those too. Homeschool resources can be especially difficult to find because many don't have traditional websites and some operate primarily through social media or word of mouth. We're working on bringing those options together in one place as well.
Is eduScout only for Little Rock and North Little Rock?
That's where we started. We're expanding across Central Arkansas and plan to keep growing from there.
Is there an eduScout app?
No download needed. eduScout is a website and can be used from a phone, tablet, or computer at eduScout.app.
Is eduScout finished?
Definitely not. We're building this in the open. Phase 1 is the beginning, and we want feedback from families to help determine what we build next.
Who made eduScout?
We're a local family who got frustrated trying to navigate all of this ourselves. We kept running into information that was scattered, outdated, difficult to find, or only available because another parent happened to tell us. Eventually we thought: why isn't there just one place to start? So we started building it.
